Fashion Friday June 7th The CFDA Awards

Today is Fashion Friday! Today I'm taking a look at the CFDA Awards. The 2013 CFDA Fashion Awards took place on Monday, June 3 at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center.

The awards were generously underwritten by Swarovski. The annual event recognized the outstanding contributions made to American fashion by individuals from all areas of the industry and related arts, with awards being given for design excellence in womenswear, menswear, and accessories as well as extraordinary accomplishments in journalism, creative vision, and lifetime achievement.

Nominations for each award category were submitted by the CFDA Fashion Awards Selection Committee, made up of the 400+ members of the CFDA, along with top fashion retailers, journalists, and stylists. The nominees, as well as recipients of the honorary awards are ratified by the CFDA Board of Directors.

The arrival of the designers, models, actresses and actors were a mixed bag. I saw actresses stick to the more classic elegant simplistic looks. Sophia Vergara wore a beautiful classic silhouette in emerald green by Hervè L Leroux. Kerry Washington stood out in a  jeweled-toned Jason Wu dress. Actress, Juliet Lewis wore a classic girly silhouette by Zachary Posen.

My favorite looks on the runway are looks that stand out and Tory Burch looked amazing in vintage Chanel. Patterns on the red carpet always cause us to take a second look and we did. This look was comfortable and appropriate for the season and occasion. Jessica Stam was styled to the nines.  Her custom Rebecca Minkoff dress was simplistic for an ordinary red carpet but not for the CFDA awards her styling was impeccable and fresh and amazing for this event.

The trend of the night was cut outs. My best dressed look is a cut out from this sexy trend. On the red carpet this trend was timeless! Linda Fargo looked chic and classic in Michael Kors. CFDA President, Diane Von Furstenburg looked commanding and fashion-forward in her cut outs.

Rachel Roy looked like a designer in her fashion-forward jumpsuit in white and cut-outs. So many trends but it works! Erin Watson looked AMAZING and the epitome of the CFDA awards red carpet-- trendy and fashion forward. Her Alexander Wang dress will be coveted by women everywhere! Another model that looked great in her white cut- ou was Alessandra Abrosio.

The Awards will be digitally broadcast on Tuesday, June 4th, only on Style.com.
